BAND of BROTHERS
Scripture has a lot to say about laziness, because laziness is and always has been a major struggle for people throughout history. Living with all the comforts and ease of 21st century America has not necessarily made human nature any worse than it has been, but has certainly given us more opportunities to be lazy.
In this study, we will work through what the Bible has to say about the topic of laziness. We will seek first to grasp the scriptural message, but then secondly to apply it specifically (and perhaps even painfully) to our lives today. Come join us as we shine the light of God's Word on this uncomfortable yet prevalent issue.
When? Saturday February 19th from 6:30-8:30
Where? The Gathering Place
How Much? No charge for the event, and light refreshments will be provided.

What is Band of Brothers?
In 1 John 2:12-14, the apostle writes to believers in various levels of Christian growth. He classifies one of those groups as “young men” (vv. 13b, 14b) and says, "I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the Evil One.”
This verse has incredible relevance for Christian young men today, who find themselves engaged daily in a spiritual struggle, wavering as to whether or not they will strive to overcome, and confronted with the decision as to whether or not they will abide in the strength of God’s Word. Yes, these are difficult days in which the onslaught of the Evil One is varied and aggressive. And, as someone once eloquently put it, “Lone rangers are dead rangers.” Individually we are weak and prone to wander, but by God’s grace there is strength in numbers (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). The Band of Brothers ministry has been established to connect Christian young men to the Lord and to His Word through the context of intentional spiritual relationships with other Christian brothers. Enjoying Bible study, book reading, prayer, and accountability, our mission is to strive together for the scriptural strength to succeed in our spiritual struggle. |
