Focus Groups
We believe that God’s work is being fulfilled today through the local church (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 3:10; I Timothy 3:15), that the local church's mission is to glorify God through discipleship (Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 1:28-29; II Timothy 2:2), and that discipleship must be accomplished in small groups (Mark 3:14 – Jesus & disciples, with inner circle; Paul & Titus/Timothy; I Cor. 16:9).
Our Focus Groups provide that small group opportunity for discipleship. Discipleship may be defined as "the loving commitment to the spiritual maturity of another believer in helping to bring him/her into greater Christlikeness" (Ephesians 4:11-12; Colossians 1:28-29; Hebrews 3:13-14; 10:24-25). Our Focus Groups are structured to accomplish this definition. Essentially, a Focus Group is a small community group of believers that is committed to intentional discipleship and biblical relationships that draw each other closer to Christ. The idea of Focus Groups was originated by the Great Discipler Himself, when Jesus gathered around Himself twelve ordinary men who enjoyed an intentional, purposeful relationship with Him and were forever changed by it. As is characteristic of the entire Single Focus ministry, our Focus Groups provide small group opportunities to:
1. Connect – in transparent & loving relationships
2. Grow – in love for and obedience to Christ through God's Word
3. Serve – by ministering grace verbally & visibly to all
Each Focus Group has 5-12 guys or 5-12 girls and is led by one or two of the Single Focus members. These groups meet once a month during Midweek Connection (on the first Wednesday night of each month) and one other time each month to openly pray (James 5:16), lovingly sharpen one another (Proverbs 27:17), and transparently discuss God's Word (Psalm 19:7-11).
